Recruitment & Selection vs Interim Recruitment: what's the difference?
Recruitment & Selection vs Interim Recruitment: what's the difference?
Recruitment & Selection and Interim Recruitment are both important forms of recruitment services within Sterksen. As a potential colleague, it can take some time to find out how the work is divided at a new organization. This blog examines the differences and similarities between the two recruitment solutions at Sterksen.
What is Recruitment & Selection?
The strength of Recruitment & Selection at Sterksen lies in the depth and quality with which the partnership with both client and candidate is built. The goal is always to achieve the best result for all parties involved. With Recruitment & Selection, we focus on long-term solutions, where recruitment is preferably carried out exclusively for different clients. By exclusive recruitment we mean that we take on the entire recruitment process of a vacancy. This means that we carefully consider all candidates, regardless of their origin (such as a work at page, referrals or actively hired candidates). We assess these candidates and make a selection of the professionals who best fit the vacancy and the client's needs.
This creates commitment on the client side and creates partnership. In addition, you also build a relationship with the candidate by guiding them through the entire process as well as possible. This involves extensive personal intake interviews, interim update calls, close supervision throughout the process and guidance through the deal-closing process.
The focus in Recruitment & Selection is on (business) IT roles, which is dynamic due to the rapidly changing industry. For the more experienced recruiters we also have executive search assignments, where we fulfill non-IT management positions in addition to IT. Think of positions such as Commercial Director or CEO.
What is Interim Recruitment?
Interim Recruitment has a dynamic character. This is therefore faster and more flexible within Sterksen than Recruitment & Selection. Here too a relationship is built with the client, but the process is more volatile given the speed required in the process. You often have only a few hours to days to introduce the suitable candidate to your client. The goal: to bring supply and demand together as quickly as possible. To achieve this, there is a short intake with the client. This is concise, but with a personal touch. We want to understand what the client is looking for in order to make the right match.
Because the recruitment process for interim assignments has a shorter cycle, the interviews with candidates are often somewhat shorter and less in-depth than in Recruitment & Selection. However, there is often more interaction with potential candidates, as the interim employees themselves actively show interest.
After your candidate is placed, it is crucial to maintain intensive contact with both the hiring manager and the candidate. This not only helps to further strengthen the partnership, but also to keep both parties committed to you for as long as possible and make the relationship lasting.
The similarities in our recruitment solutions
Recruitment & Selection and Interim Recruitment at Sterksen also have similarities. They are both roles with a commercial character. Both solutions are about bringing supply and demand together for both client and candidate. The two recruitment solutions also work closely together internally to jointly provide the best solution for the client.
There may be times when the pressure on a client's open position is very high, yet there is a need for a permanent candidate. In such a case, the two services can work together. By first placing an interim professional, while at the same time we start the search for a permanent employee.
Recruitment & Selection focuses on in-depth, long-term partnerships with extensive intakes and personal coaching. Interim Recruitment, on the other hand, is faster and more flexible, with a shorter intake and faster follow-up to achieve quick results.
With interim, the process is not complete after the placement; you remain in close contact with the candidate throughout the assignment. In addition, you are responsible for contractual agreements and dealings with both the client and the candidate.
In short, at Sterksen both Recruitment & Selection and interim recruitment offer effective solutions, each with its own approach. The diversity of recruitment solutions within the organization ensures that you have plenty of internal opportunities to grow and develop yourself further. Would you also like to benefit from this and make yourself a real matchmaker? Then take a look at our vacancies and apply immediately!
RPO: the next step in your recruitment career
RPO: the next step in your recruitment career
RPO recruiter Robert van den Ouwelant tells you all about it here
As a recruiter, sometimes you can't see your own career through the vacancies. The recruitment services fly around your ears: recruitment & selection, secondment, Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) or interim. In this blog we will help you on your way by taking a closer look at RPO services. This is the next step for every recruiter with some experience. How and why? Find out here!
What is RPO?
RPO stands for Recruitment Process Outsourcing. An organization outsources the recruitment and selection process to an external recruitment organization. This can be for various reasons, such as lack of expertise, cost or time savings. For an RPO recruiter this means that you are employed by a recruitment organization and placed with one of their clients in the role of Corporate Recruiter. Here the client is relieved in the recruitment process from A to Z: filling vacancies, referral, employer branding and innovation in data and systems (ATS) are the responsibility of the RPO recruiter.
Why is this the next step for you as a recruiter?
Because, as an RPO recruiter, you are employed by a recruitment organization and placed with a client, you wear two different hats. This means that you gain a large network, gain a lot of experience and make strides in stakeholder and project management, among other things. You are surrounded by other RPO colleagues who in turn also bring experience, which you learn from. In addition to finding the right candidates, you will develop with strategic recruitment projects. As an RPO recruiter, you are the recruitment expert for a client, making this the next step for you as a recruiter.
RPO at Sterksen
Sterksen has decades of experience in RPO projects. We are characterized by a team of experienced and committed professionals. We are of relatively small size with large international clients on RPO. Almost every large IT organization, is a client of Sterksen. In an RPO project we always try to be two steps ahead, for example with new recruitment marketing initiatives or data reporting via BI. We are sparring partners; we work with and not for the client. In addition, we learn and laugh a lot with colleagues. Monthly we organize RPO meetings and regularly we do a fun activity: from bingo to ChatGPT knowledge sessions.
What does this mean to you?
Sterksen is originally an organization from Brabant and it shows. Placements are regularly celebrated with sausage rolls at the office: a nice change from often more corporate environments at the client. This brings an interesting dynamic. In addition, Sterksen is not an average recruitment organization when it comes to 'individual scoring'. Also as an RPO recruiter you work as a team to get the best out of recruitment for our clients. Our culture ensures that you will quickly feel at home at Sterksen and work with confidence for the client.
Are you curious about RPO, Sterksen and/or want to know more about your next step as a recruiter? Feel free to ask me, Robert, your question at Robert.VandenOuwelant@sterksen.com or +31 6 52758134 Always nice to spar!

HFG Foundation: working together for a better world
HeadFirst Group is committed to a better world beyond the job market. We are committed to improving the environment, nature and the lives of people around the world. One way we do this is with the HeadFirst Group Foundation, with activities aimed at helping people in their careers and in life.

Therefore, the HFG Foundation has made a donation to Stichting Jongeren Op Kamp (SJOK), in which our colleague Sem Overduin is actively involved. Sem helps organize these camps, which provide valuable experiences for a diverse group of participants.
The vacation weeks include activities such as swimming, sports and game activities and shopping. Wondering what this looks like? See some photos from last week here. It was another successful vacation for everyone who attended!

Monthly drinks at HeadFirst Group: together you celebrate more!
Monthly drinks at HeadFirst Group: together you celebrate more!
At HeadFirst Group, connection is at the heart of everything we do. We believe in celebrating special moments together, taking care of each other and always being ready to help each other when needed. One of the ways we strengthen that connection is through our monthly get-together, which time after time guarantees fun, creativity and most importantly: being together!
Every month a different team gets the honor of organizing the get-together, and this is always accompanied by a surprising theme. This year we have already had some get-togethers, all of which have proved memorable.
Spring vibes and royal charm
The Service Desk team kicked off the year with spring drinks, complete with a merry bingo. The enthusiasm with which the bingo cards were filled out, and the happy faces when winning prizes, showed how fun and connecting a simple game can be.
During the week of King's Day, we couldn't avoid the theme. It was time for the Kings & Queens get-together. The bar was draped in orange and many a colleague had pulled out the orange outfit.
Sporting challenges and traditional Dutch hospitality
Not long after, we imagined ourselves in a typically Dutch atmosphere during the 'Ik hou van Holland' drinks. With delicious snacks and a quiz full of Dutch facts.
With the Olympics on the agenda, HR organized the Olympic ping pong tournament. Colleagues were able to show their sporting talents. People played fanatically, but also laughed a lot.
In August, of course, many colleagues were enjoying a wonderful vacation. With the colleagues who were working, we celebrated the summer with the summer drink. On the roof terrace there were small pools, water guns and summer drinks ready.
Having drinks together: a moment of connection
At HeadFirst Group, our monthly get-together is about more than just drinks and snacks. It is a moment of connection, where we take a moment to reflect on what connects us as a team. We get to know each other better outside the workplace, discover new talents and strengthen our bonds.
Would you like to become part of an organization where connection is key and where job satisfaction goes hand in hand with performance? Then come and meet HeadFirst Group. Check out our vacancies here.
Music connects beyond the workplace at HeadFirst Group
Music connects beyond the workplace at Headfirst Group
At HeadFirst Group, "Connecting People" is not just a core value, it is the foundation of our culture and everything we do. We believe that true connection happens through personal interaction and sharing experiences, both in the workplace and beyond.
Personal interaction
Connection starts with personal contact. A conversation in person or via (video) call is always better than an email. Participating in, or better yet, initiating social activities, helps us further strengthen this connection.
Music events: connection outside of work
Because connection does not stop when the working day ends, at HeadFirst Group we regularly organize social activities such as get-togethers and parties. We also offer our colleagues the chance to enjoy music events together. This year, for example, several colleagues enjoyed concerts by P!NK, Joel Borelli, Taylor Swift and Amsterdam Summer. These events provide an excellent opportunity to connect with each other outside the work context and create shared memories.
At HeadFirst Group, we are all about connection. By encouraging personal interactions and creating shared experiences both on and off the job, we strengthen the bond between colleagues. Join our team and experience how we at HeadFirst Group bring "Connecting People" to life, every day.

New website and branding Striive
New website and branding Striive
We proudly launched Striive's brand new website and branding. Striive helps professionals find new challenges, supports suppliers in matching assignments with their talent and assists clients in their search for the best candidates. The platform is revolutionary in ease of use and uniquely uses artificial intelligence (AI) to connect supply and demand. In addition, Striive offers innovative services to fully support professionals in their entrepreneurship.
Connector between tech and touch
HeadFirst Group believes in - and fights for - a fair, open labor market where technology and human touch go hand in hand. In this "next world of work," Striive takes the position of excellent connector. Every year, the platform brings together more than twenty thousand assignments at over five hundred leading organizations in one place. In doing so, it provides easily accessible new career opportunities for professionals, self-employed or employed by suppliers.
Mattijs Wassenburg, Managing Director Digital at HeadFirst Group, explains: "Our goal with Striive is to make all assignments in the market available in one online place for all professionals, regardless of contract form. Ease of use is hugely important in this regard. We rebuilt the platform from the ground up, based on thousands of reviews, user interviews and data analysis. Independent professionals and suppliers on our platform have four primary needs: 1) challenging assignments with reputable clients, 2) minimal red tape, 3) prompt payment of invoices, and 4) personal contact when they want it. Striive fulfills the first three needs, giving my colleagues more time for the fourth: the human touch."

HeadFirst Group: An inspiring workplace for growth and development
HeadFirst Group: An inspiring workplace for growth and development
As an employer, we have evolved rapidly in recent years. Guided by our three core values: Customer first, Learn everyday and Connecting people. Engagement, fun and ownership are central to our organization.
Responsibility
We encourage our employees to be entrepreneurial through personal development and give them responsibility. We combine our focus on customer experience with the Lean philosophy, which is based on the principle that improvement initiatives come from the entire organization rather than just from the top of the organization. We have put our employees at the wheel of continuous improvement.
HeadFirst Group Academy
To encourage our staff to continue to learn and develop, we have our own HeadFirst Group Academy. The Academy is an online learning environment where employees collectively attended 483 training sessions in 2023. In addition, a large number of classroom training sessions were conducted (305 training sessions).
Mental well-being
The mental well-being of our employees is also essential to us. That's why we joined forces with OpenUp, an organization whose mission is to make mental wellness accessible to everyone. OpenUp offers resources that make people more resilient and help them in their personal development such as a health check, one-on-one consultations with certified psychologists, master classes and group sessions, mindfulness consultations and online programs, articles and manuals.
Acknowledgment
Since we moved into our new headquarters in Hoofddorp in early 2022, we have our own HeadFirst Group theater at our disposal. We use this for our customized escape room, company parties, knowledge events and inspiration sessions.
All of this has been greatly appreciated: we were certified as a Great Place to Work (GPTW) for the second time in 2023. This is a great recognition of who we want to be as an employer. In the GPTW survey, our employees rated us highly on the topics of fair treatment, diversity & inclusion, responsibility and independence within work, and feeling that they can be themselves at work.
Does HeadFirst Group seem like a great place to work? Check out our vacancies and maybe we'll see you soon at our monthly drink!
